This week, we're adding more pages to our Spellbook. Here's what we'll be talking about:

🔦 Highlights

🪄 Spells

One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.

How not to talk

What we overlook

Communication is one of those things everyone assumes is easy.

We talk every day. We give feedback. We reply. We sit in meetings.

So it feels like it’s working. Right?

But when you look closer, even strong teams with great portfolios struggle here.

And when communication starts slipping, you don’t see it immediately in the work.

You feel it first.

What it could affect

Morale drops.
Energy changes.
People become more careful with what they say.

Over time, it becomes surface level.

People do just enough.
Ideas don’t go as far.
Creativity feels… contained.

You might think people don’t care anymore.

But! It’s actually the space doesn’t feel safe enough to explore.

All because of communication.

UBD Spectrum: Archivia

We finally made time to visit the latest instalment of the annual UBD Spectrum Exhibition, spending the afternoon immersing ourselves in an incredibly diverse range of works. From aquascaping setups with live fish and plants, to mosaics, dioramas, and even fragrance and hygiene products like themed soaps and perfumes — the variety of mediums on display felt more expansive than ever. Many pieces also explored Brunei’s culture, shining a light on lesser-known stories and perspectives.

It felt refreshingly experimental, and a reminder that there’s always more to uncover within the local creative scene. Congratulations to all the exhibitors — we’re excited to see how the industry continues to grow and push boundaries.

Pizza Party

To celebrate our hard work, welcome our new team members, and make the most of Friday blessings, we decided to throw a little pizza party. With pizzas from Pizza Hut, two trays of nasi pusu lovingly prepared by Majidah’s grandmother, plus extra treats from the team — it quickly turned into a proper feast. Zai dropped by with bread and custard puffs (just because!), while DB came through with a full tray of kuih raya.

Fridays are usually our chill days, and it’s rare for us to stay in — so this made the afternoon even more special. Also, a small but memorable win: when we picked up our order, the staff pronounced our name correctly… and that honestly made our day.

Thank you, everyone, for making it happen!

The Media Marathon Continues

The media team had another eventful week filled with back-to-back shoots and coverages across different projects and events. The week began with the media boys headed out to cover BFI’s activities, including the visit of of the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste and several other agendas before the team headed out to do reshoot for TBK. To close off the busy week, the coverage team - Hisham, Aiman, Alfath and Judin also did coverage for Ministry of Finance and Economy’s Accounting Forum yesterday, keeping the momentum and cameras rolling throughout the week.

Raf’s Latest Milestone!

Last week, Raf Zaini faced the final chapter of her Master’s in Management journey as she sat for her final exams, marking the end of an intense and challenging one-year adventure. After countless assignments, presentations, sleepless nights and long days balancing her Master’s studies with her role as Media Producer, she has finally crossed the line! We wish her nothing but the very best for her result - so she could graduate this year!

Nasi Pusu - Dapur762

Majidah Khirul first introduced us to her Nini’s nasi pusu during our year-end get together, and we’ve been craving it ever since. It’s 50 cents each, wrapped in banana leaves you’ll get rice, egg and sambal pusu! We hope you also consider trying the other menu, especially if your favourite cuisine is makanan kampung!

Holochase

HoloChase is a Pokémon TCG marketplace built for the local Brunei community, making it easier for collectors to buy, sell, and match cards with each other. Sellers list their cards with asking prices, condition notes, and real photos, while buyers maintain a want list — the platform automatically surfaces matches between the two. The market supports English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Indonesian cards, with translated card names and language flags so buyers always know what they're getting. Features like a verified seller badge, a community rating system, and WhatsApp-integrated contact messages are designed around the trust dynamics of a small, close-knit trading scene.
