🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
Great portfolios don’t mean great teams
What actually builds a team
One thing that stayed with me from The Culture Code by Daniel Coyle is this:
Strong teams are built through safety. Through trust. Through people feeling comfortable enough to be themselves around each other.
The more I observe teams, the more I realise how true that is.
Because nobody does their best work while feeling guarded all the time.
It goes beyond work
A cohesive team does not happen just because people produce good work together.
It comes from the spaces in between.
The random conversations.
The lunch table talks.
The “how are you actually doing?” moments.
Talking about life outside of work matters more than we think.
Health. Marriage. Family. Hobbies. Things happening around the world. Dreams. Fears. Random interests.
The human side.
That’s where trust starts forming quietly.
And when trust exists, the work willingness changes too.
What slowly weakens teams
Drama. Gossip. Quiet resentment. The “he said, she said” conversations.
When every move results in questions from left and right. Negative assumptions to positive changes.
These things drain energy faster than bad workflows.
Once people feel like they need to protect themselves, creativity changes.
People become careful instead of expressive.
Safe instead of curious.
Distant instead of collaborative.
The work still gets done.
But it loses warmth. It loses honesty. It loses life.
And this responsibility lies within everyone in the team, top to bottom.
What we’re trying to build
We want criticism to feel empowering.
We want problems to be approached positively.
We want crisis to become something the team learns from together.
That shift takes effort from everyone.
Not only leaders.
Everyone.
On the leadership side
There are a few things from the book that stayed with me.
1. Criticise constructively, but care deeply
People accept difficult feedback more openly when they know it comes from a place of wanting them to grow.
2. Get personal in genuine ways
Talk about interests, hobbies, family, and random things outside of work. The connection outside the task matters.
3. Talk about bigger things in life
Health. Marriage. Travel. The state of the world. Human things. Some of the strongest trust is built through conversations unrelated to projects.
People can feel when something is forced.
Everything has to be genuine.
On the spiritual side
Leadership is also responsibility.
Your team becomes part of your amanah.
You take care of them.
You guide them.
You protect their growth where you can.
Avoid comparing them against each other. Avoid complaining about them behind closed doors.
Do things with love.
People feel that too.
A reminder
Teams become stronger when people feel safe enough to be human around each other.
That safety changes conversations.
And conversations change the work.
TL;DR
1. Trust is built outside the work too
Projects alone do not build closeness.
2. Safety changes creativity
People contribute more when they feel comfortable.
3. Genuine care is obvious
People always know when it’s real.

Sunday Fitness
In the morning, Haziyah, Raf, Judin (and Dhiyau!) kicked things off with a functional fitness class at Elite Alpha Fitness, led by Coach Wafiy and Coach Nanee — a solid start to the day.
By evening, the energy carried on as Raf, Hisham, Fai, Alfath, DB, Imamull, Aaqilull Qhaeer, Syed, and friends gathered at Smash Queens for a badminton session hosted by Judin.
A full day of movement, from reps to rallies.

Happy Birthday, Aaqilull!
Last week, we surprised our media executive/editor Aaqilull Qhaeer for his advanced 24th Birthday. Happy birthday, Aaqilull we wish you all the best!

Friday Feast
Hafiz, Amal, Imamull, Hisham, Judin, and Raf kicked off the day bright and early with a food run for the team. Lately, we’ve been taking turns treating everyone on Fridays — a small way to show our appreciation and keep the good vibes going.
On this blessed Friday, we came in strong with a spread of nasi katok, kuih, cucur, and some of our favourite beverages. Safe to say, the team was well-fed and very happy.

Media Recce at UNN
Earlier this week, the media headed to UNN for a recce session to explore the location, review the filming setup, and prepare for the upcoming shoot. Special thanks to Iman and Yaza (Interns from UNN) for guiding us throughout the recce session. This project will be directed by Aaqilull, alongside the team involved during the recce session: Judin, Aaqilull, Raf, Alfath and Hisham.

NEO Got Our Back
The creative team weren’t the only ones due for an upgrade — it was about time one of our non-creative team members got one too. Thanks to the MacBook Neo, Hafiz can now handle his finance-related tasks far more efficiently.
Fun fact: what used to take him 30 minutes on his old laptop now takes barely 5. Safe to say, it’s made a huge difference.

New Air Conditioner in Town!
Recently, we got a new standing air-conditioner, which came at the perfect time since the weather has been really hot lately. Now, the room feels much colder, cosier and more comfortable to be in.

✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
MO-TEA
Recently, Raf and Judin went to MO-TEA to try their Spanish Latte and Nutella Crepe Cake. Raf absolutely loved the Spanish Latte with Oatside milk and even gave it a solid 9/10. The place also felt extra cozy during the evening, making it a really nice spot to relax and unwind.

99 Mobile Service Sdn Bhd - Amber Hill, Batu Bersurat
Thanks to 99 Mobile Service Sdn Bhd at Amber Hill, Batu Bersurat, we managed to make major upgrades to some of our working stations, which has really improved our workflow and efficiency. Highly recommended! The staff was very helpful and accommodating throughout the process.
