This week, we're adding more pages to our Spellbook. Here's what we'll be talking about:

🔦 Highlights

🪄 Spells

One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.

Why do we save so much?

The folder

I was scrolling through my saved posts recently.

There were marketing tips.

Leadership lessons.

Photography tutorials.

Business advice.

Content and marketing ideas.

Books to read.

Podcasts to listen to.

Life advices.

Some of them had probably been sitting there for months, maybe years.

Don’t deny it now, I’m sure a lot of you can relate.

And it made me wonder…

Why do we save so much?

It feels productive

Saving feels productive.

Bookmarking feels productive.

Watching another video feels productive.

Reading another thread feels productive.

Your brain feels full.

You learned something.

You discovered something.

You found a better way to do something.

At least that's what it feels like.

You know, it’s only an illusion.

Isn’t it strange?

The strange part is that sometimes we consume so much that we forget to create.

One video becomes five.

Five becomes twenty.

Then another article appears. Bookmarked. Slot into a folder within a folder, carefully categorised with keywords such as inspirations, lessons and reading.

Another podcast.

Another tutorial.

An inspiration on Pinterest or Behance.

Another creator sharing their process that sparks you and fuels you.

Something that made you say “I’m gonna do this next time”

At some point, it’s already 10.38PM and you’re falling in and out of sleep risking a bruise on your right cheek from the phone falling flat on your face.

Your head feels busy. You feel like you did a lot.

But your hands didn't make anything. You didn’t create.

A question I want to ask you

How many ideas are sitting inside your saved folder right now?

And how many of them have actually been used?

Not remembered.

Used.

There's a difference.

The illusion

I think this is where things get dangerous.

Because learning feels like progress.

And often it is.

There is a difference with gathering a lot of knowledge, and actually applying them and gaining intelligence.

But learning and applying are two different activities.

One fills your head.

The other changes your life.

One feels safe.

The other requires action.

And action usually comes with uncertainty.

Is that why we’re scared of doing?

Something I’ve noticed

I’m lucky enough to be able to meet a lot of businesses locally and overseas. This also means that I get to talk to people with immensely different mindsets and experiences. That makes me get a lot of context.

The people who improve the fastest are rarely the people consuming the most.

They're usually the people trying things.

Badly at first.

Awkwardly at first.

Imperfectly at first. They don’t care about looking dumb.

But they're creating.

They're testing.

They're learning through experience.

They’re gaining intellegence.

Questions to ponder upon

What are you saving for?

What are you waiting for?

If you stopped consuming for the next seven days, what would you create with everything you've already learned?

And if your saved folder disappeared tomorrow, would you actually lose anything important?

Or would the most valuable lessons already be the ones you've put into practice?

In the end, knowledge becomes useful when it leaves the screen and enters real life.

Are you going to take action?

Friday Feast

This week’s food mission was assigned to Hariisah, Yasmin, Majidah and Hafiz — a responsibility they did not take lightly. The team made their rounds to our usual spots, Sumbangsih Mulia and Faizee Rimba, returning with a full spread of nasi lemak, cucur, popia, keropok and an assortment of traditional cakes.

All was going well… until an unexpected guest (a spider) decided to join them mid-drive.

We’re happy to report that the food team made it back safely, the spread remained intact, and no one was bitten by a radioactive spider (so unfortunately, no new superpowers in the office just yet).

(A successful mission, we’d say)

Football Fever

FIFA World Cup season is officially in the air, and Friday morning’s match between South Korea and Czech Republic had the office quietly locked in.

South Korea dominated the first half, but somehow it ended 0–0 — the kind of tension that keeps you glued to the screen. They continued to control the game, with Czech Republic barely getting a foothold… until the second half, when the underdogs struck first (cue collective shock).

A brief moment of silence for the South Korea supporters — but not for long. South Korea bounced back, turned the game around, and secured a 2–1 win like it was always part of the plan.

Safe to say, productivity took a slight pause… but morale? At an all-time high

BFI Korban Kitchen Coverage

Judin and Hisham spent the day at BFI Korban Kitchen, where BFI and SCOT came together to prepare and cook meals using daging korban as the main protein. From 8:30AM to 2:30PM, it was all hands on deck in the kitchen, followed by packing from 2:30PM to 3:30PM before heading off for distribution.

The meals were then delivered to those in need across Temburong, including Masjid Utama Mohammad Salleh — a small effort to give back through sedekah. They parked at BIBD Connect in Temburong and continued the journey in a van alongside SCOT and the food for distribution.

After a long but fulfilling day, they made their way back and stopped by Pantaran Cafe for some well-deserved coffee and bread for the road. A meaningful day spent cooking, giving, and sharing

Recommendations

Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.

Pantaran Cafe

If you’re in Temburong, Pantaran Cafe is a spot worth checking out.

Hisham tried their Spanish latte — smooth, not too sweet, juuuust right. They also have $2 cheesecakes (yes, $2) and a selection of Gardenia buns with fillings. The roti sambal pusu? Certified banger.

They’ve only just opened recently, so it’s a nice fresh spot to drop by. You can find them at Labu Square, Temburong.

Gawat Darurat Installation (IGD) Santo Borromeus Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia

If you ever find yourself in need of medical attention while in Bandung, Santo Borromeus Hospital is a reliable option.

During their time there, Amal and Imamull were treated for indigestion and gas at the IGD, where the process was smooth and efficient. They were given medication, including syrup and an injection, and were well taken care of by the medical team.

Get well soon, Imamull!
