🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
When did this become normal?
A strange observation
A few weeks ago, I was invited to a podcast by Ms A’qilah Muzani from the UBD Alumni Office.
Somewhere in the conversation, she asked,
"So... how big is the team now?"
"Around twenty."
That answer stayed with me.
Yes, twenty is a big number. But that wasn’t it.
Because there was a time when having a team at all felt impossible.
It made me realise how quickly our minds move on to the next problem.
Fear has a funny way of working
I've noticed something about myself over the years.
Whenever I'm afraid, my world becomes very small.
I only see what's missing.
The client we haven't won.
The deadline we're worried about.
The mistake we just made.
The uncertainty.
It's almost like fear puts blinders on.
It convinces me that today's problem is the only thing that exists.
Have you ever felt that? Like you’re so fixated on what’s missing and what’s not going your way.
Then I pause
Whenever that happens, I try to do something simple.
I pause.
Not avoiding the problem. It’s still there definitely.
I pause just long enough to remember.
I remember the people who believed in us before there was any reason to.
I remember conversations with Amal when we genuinely had no idea where this journey would lead.
I remember the clients who took a chance on us and stayed.
I remember the team that kept showing up, even while we were still figuring things out ourselves.
I remember how generous Allah has been through every stage of this journey.
Something changes after that.
The problem is still there.
But it no longer feels like the only thing in the room.
Seeing the whole picture
Gratitude has never make difficult conversations disappear.
It has never shortened deadlines.
It has never magically solved a business problem.
What it has done is give me enough clarity to face them.
Because when your mind is filled with fear, every decision feels urgent.
When your mind is filled with gratitude, every decision becomes a little calmer.
A little clearer.
And I've realised that some of my better decisions came after I stopped asking,
"What if this goes wrong?"
...and started remembering,
"We've been through difficult seasons before."
But maybe because everyone is in that head space, it does really solve problems in the end.
Hmm… maybe that’s why
Maybe that's why grateful people often seem calmer.
It probably isn't because life is easier.
It most definitely isn't because they have fewer problems.
They've simply trained themselves to see more than the problem in front of them.
They see the people beside them.
The lessons behind them.
And the possibilities ahead of them.
Questions worth thinking about
The next time you're feeling overwhelmed, what would happen if you paused for two minutes?
What would you remember?
Who would come to mind?
What prayer has quietly become part of your everyday life?
The problem may still be waiting for you afterwards.
BUT! do you think you'll be looking at it through the same eyes?

Farewell Presentation
Six months really do fly by. This week, we said goodbye to our IBTE interns Syed Inayat, Hariisah Halwa, and Yasmin Yunos as they wrapped up their time with us. What started as a quiet, cautious first day quickly grew into a journey of confidence, curiosity, and stepping outside their comfort zones — with some even finding themselves in front of the camera as talents. Watching that transformation is always one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
It was also a moment of farewell for two of our media executives, Rusydinul Aiman and Leemin Sofian, who have been part of the team’s journey. To all of you — thank you for your hard work, laughter, and the energy you brought into the space. We’re excited to see where your paths lead next, and we hope your time here was not just about the work, but also about discovering more about yourselves 🤍

Field Trip, But Make It Aviation
It’s not every day a creative agency gets to visit a helicopter simulation training facility — and no, this wasn’t a recce.
Yesterday afternoon, as part of our team bonding, we were invited to CAE Brunei MPTC for a tour around their facilities. From behind-the-scenes insights to getting hands-on, some of us even got to play ‘pilot’, soaring across the skies of Brunei through the Sikorsky S92 simulation.
Safe to say, curiosity was well-fed and inner childhood dreams were unlocked. It truly felt like being back on a school excursion — just with slightly cooler toys.
Thank you, CAE Brunei MPTC, for the unforgettable experience!

Same Same but Different
Iman Shamsuddin and Haziyah Azalmey recently attended “Same Same but Different?”, a sharing session organised by Elroy Ramantan under Minority Agenda in collaboration with the National Gallery Singapore team. Held at Arteliery Studio, the session brought together a small but engaged group of creatives, artists, and cultural practitioners to explore the question: what does Brunei’s art scene say about Brunei? The intimate setting opened the floor to thoughtful, and at times challenging, questions from attendees — sparking meaningful conversations throughout the night.
Discussions touched on the limitations of how far art can go locally, what it means for an artist to be “museum-worthy,” as well as themes of censorship and opportunities for collaboration within Brunei’s creative landscape. One key takeaway was the untapped potential within curation, alongside the sense that while Brunei has a long way to go, there is plenty of room to grow. Moving forward, we hope to see more emerging and up-and-comings artists being highlighted alongside established names — creating a more diverse and evolving representation of Brunei’s art scene.

Happy Birth-Farewell To You!
1st July marked not just the final day for Aiman, Hariisah, Yasmin, and Syed at AICREATIVV — it also happened to be our Lead Creative Designer, Iman’s birthday.
So naturally, we celebrated both.
Each of the five received a personalised cake slice (or entremet) thoughtfully matched to them — a small gesture for a moment that felt equal parts farewell and celebration.
A true bittersweet day, filled with goodbyes, laughter, and a lot of cake.
(Special thanks to Hafiz and Haziyah for putting the surprise together)

Happy Birth-farewell!

✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
Twist & Turn Fitness Studio
Judin and Raf have officially gotten back into their spinning era over the past few weeks, and so far, we've been loving the classes at Twist&Turn Fitness Studio. If you're just starting out, Hafiz J's classes are a solid pick. The playlist keeps the vibes high, the intensity is just enough to push you without feeling overwhelming, and before you know it, the class is over. Just a friendly reminder to listen to your body. Don't go all out on your first few rides, keep that water bottle close, and give yourself time to recover afterwards.
Aurea Cafe, Jerudong
This one's Alfath’s recommendation. If you're looking for a café with a cozy vibe to unwind or catch up with friends, Aurea Cafe is definitely worth checking out. His go-to order is the Speculoos Matcha, and the best way to describe it? It's like Biscoff and matcha had a baby. Definitely one to try if you're in your matcha era.
