🔦 Highlights
🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
Nothing to report. We talk anyway.
As creatives, we want to create. Talking to clients is not really in our nature, and some of us would happily stay glued to the screen (with passion) and let the emails wait.
The bottleneck
We cannot have one person handling 25 ongoing clients. If we try, that person becomes the bottleneck between us and the clients, and everything slows down: progress, revisions, and eventually the timeline. It was not anyone's habit to check phones or emails apart from the business team, so fixing it meant the business team actually helping the ones who prefer to be glued to the screen.
Two ten-minute habits
We came up with two things: Client Circle and Friday Fives. Each takes ten minutes, no more.
Client Circle happens every Wednesday. Even when there is nothing to report, we still talk. It teaches us to stop being client and agency, and to be friends working on a project. We hate transactional relationships, and it is never going to be like that with us.
Friday Fives is the more structured one, five lines every time:
What we worked on this week
What we finished
What's blocking
What needs the client
What we'll work on next week
At first it was a template on WhatsApp. Eventually it became ingrained, to the point where it is just a conversation. These days it doesn't really "happen" as a thing at all. What I find beautiful is that it is still tracked: we only give a Friday Five after confirming the status in our internal Notion project management, and on Trello for the clients.
Who else faces the client
The business team was always worried that they were the only external-facing members of the company. If you look at some of our old posts about the Raya celebrations, you will see the media team and the creative team attending the Raya invites too, with their own circle.
So yes, habits can be changed or tweaked. It just takes consistency.
Questions worth thinking about
What is your system for keeping communication with your clients going?
What have you done so often that it stopped feeling like something you do?
Who in your team never gets to talk to the people you work for?

Building AICREATIVV, Unfiltered
This week, Imamull sat down with 50+ final-year students at Politeknik Brunei for an informal, interview-style chat about building AICREATIVV. From burnout and defining moments to his iconic first post-COVID online meeting in a Marvel jacket and uncombed hair, the conversation went beyond the usual success stories to share the messy, vulnerable and very human side of entrepreneurship. He even revisited the car conversation with Amal that started with, “Are we business partners, or are we married?” and eventually led to AICREATIVV’s first two hires.
The session was made extra special by a wholesome reunion with former interns Biboi (Hafiz J), Putra, Dijah, Zaid, Liza and Muna, alongside Hafiz and Amal. We wrapped up by hearing about two student FYPs: a children’s book preserving Brunei’s history through art, and beaded trinkets inspired by puaks and the flowers on Brunei’s banknotes. Here’s hoping the conversation gave these future entrepreneurs a little inspiration, insight and reassurance for the journeys ahead!

Somethings are Sweeter on Sundays
With three of our media team members on leave, Hisham Firdaus, our Head of Media, held down the fort at Sugarsweet for Sunday’s media coverage, with AICREATIVV co-founder and CEO Imamull Qhaeer stepping in to accompany and lend a helping hand. It was Imamull’s first time joining a media coverage session, and the day came with a few sweet surprises: free soft serve, a good salmon meal and the unexpected discovery that Simeon, the person behind Sugarsweet, would be the emcee! (He just got so much cooler)
Sounds like a pretty sweet Sunday, right? Well, almost. Despite all the treats, Imamull somehow didn’t get to have the brownies. Free ice cream and good food, but no brownies? We can only hope the next coverage comes with a redemption arc.

Ice cream to end the day!

Blessed, Fed and Fully Stocked!!
Rezeki comes in many forms— and this Friday, ours came in the form of a very full table and an even fuller pantry!
This week’s Friday Feast crew, Amal, Imamull, Haziyah and Hafiz, made their usual rounds at Sumbangsih and Green Mart, bringing back kelupis, chicken curry, kuih malaya, popia and plenty more. We even stumbled upon a little bonus rezeki: kitchen tissues we thought we’d already run out of. Turns out, we had stock all along!
And the rezeki didn’t stop at lunch. Amal and Imamull did a little shopping over the weekend and also restocked the office pantry with cartons of our favourite lemon tea and Milo, plenty of caffeinated drinks and enough keropok to keep us going for a while. Because what is an agency without caffeine and snacks?
A huge thank you to Amal, Imamull (and Hafiz!) for sharing the abundance and keeping the team fed! Shoutout to Aaqilull, DB and Haziyah for playing pantry Tetris to squeeze every last bit of it into our cabinets. May the rezeki keep flowing, and may the snacks never run out, Aamiin!

✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
DJI Lito X1
DB, our resident drone operator and 2D/3D animator, is recommending DJI’s latest budget-friendly drone, the Lito X1! Weighing under 249g and featuring a foldable design, it’s a travel-friendly option that’s easier to bring along in many countries, though local drone regulations still apply.
Despite its compact size, it packs quite a punch with up to 36 minutes of flight time, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance with LiDAR, and 4K video recording at up to 100fps. It also supports D-Log for colour grading, giving creators more flexibility in post-production. Small enough to pack, powerful enough to create!
Oddlings: Tim Burton
Bling Events is back with another themed event, following its Tomie-inspired event earlier this year! This time, they’re paying homage to Tim Burton, the filmmaker and former animator behind some of the most iconic gothic and stop-motion films. And of course, Haziyah’s creative collective, Parallel Play, will be joining the fun alongside former AICREATIVV intern Zai!
If you’re looking for something different to do this weekend, consider this your sign to explore local art, discover quirky handmade finds and support small businesses, all in one spooky little gathering! Come by Mabohai Shopping Complex, meet the local creatives behind the booths and show up in your best Tim Burton-inspired fit. Who knows what odd little treasures you’ll take home?
