📌 Perspective Shifts

Bootcamp by Chris Do

At a certain point this year, Imamull randomly decided that it was time for everyone to level up the way we think, sharpening our communication and listening skills, improve our mindset, and learn to communicate better. Overall, to be a better person outside of our technical skills.

This was when we were divided into groups where Elroy, Aiman and Imamull became facilitatos of the pre-recorded workshop by Chris Do called the Business Bootcamp. The workshop is broken down into many beneficial sections such as Mindset, Communication, Blame Game, Sales Objections and so on.

One that stood out and stuck through to the team was the Mindset topic.

Situations We’re Thrown Into

Day by day, we will most like get into situations that tests our patience. Let’s call this the “event”. When an “event” happens, we get to “react”. Based on how we “react”, there will be an “outcome”. That “outcome” is fully determined by us. In a simple equation, that would be:

Event + Reaction = Outcome.

Here are some examples that we went through in the workshop.

Angry
Stuck in a jam + Angry = A bad day, road rage, pissy the whole day

Dropped our drink after we bought it + Angry = Call ourselves clumsy, gets annoyed, call it a waste of money

Planned to jog and it rained + Angry = I’m never gonna lose weight, why is this happening to me, my whole schedule is spoiled.

Happy, Accepting
Stuck in a jam + Happy = This is the time to breathe and look around, what is happening around me? Maybe I should listen to a podcast and make this time a productive one.

Dropped our drink after we bought it + Happy = Hey, maybe it would’ve given me a stomach ache, guess my sugar intake will be lower, maybe the ants will be well fed

Planned to jog and it rained + Happy = Maybe I needed the break anyway, what if I wind down and read books, let’s get cozy and watch that series I’ve been putting off, what if I sleep early and wake up early tomorrow?

You Control The Outcome

You can either whine, or you can shift your mindset and see the good things in your day to day to life.

This can be applied to business, to the mistakes you’re going to make, and the “bad” experiences you’ll have. Everything can be a lesson if you decide to make it as one.
