This week, we're adding more pages to our Spellbook. Here's what we'll be talking about:
🔦 Highlights
🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
Creating for yourself
When your only canvas is work
When you make things for a living, it’s easy to forget what it’s like to make things just for fun.
As creatives, we spend our days building ideas for others — shaping campaigns, solving problems, making something that fits into a brand’s story. It’s good work. It’s meaningful work. But sometimes it leaves little space for our own stories.
Austin Kleon once wrote, “Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear.” That’s the reminder we needed to make things that have no client, no deadline, no rulebook.
Besides, we are a bunch of creatives.
Playing again
Over the past few weeks, we took some time to play with creativity.
Some painted (digitally). Some filmed small experiments. Some wrote or designed things that had nothing to do with a brief.
It felt strange at first — like we had forgotten how to create without purpose. But slowly, something shifted. The work felt lighter. Ideas came easier. The brain started connecting dots in new ways.
Kleon says, “Creative work is good for your mental health because it reminds you that you can make change happen.” And he’s right. When we make something for ourselves, we remember that we can.

Coming back different
After that, coming back to client work felt different. The ideas were fresher. The tone was more confident. It’s like after cleaning your whole table! It just works better.
Creativity outside of work should not be considered as a distraction, it should be considered as training. It reminds us that imagination doesn’t belong only to deadlines — it’s part of who we are, as creatives.
So make time to make things. Sketch. Film. Write. Build. Draw. Whatever you need to do to have a creative outlet.
Even if no one ever sees it. Especially if no one ever sees it.
Because sometimes, the best way to grow at work… is to remember how to play.

Elroy at Borneo Culture and Creative District, KK
AICREATIVV’s resident globetrotter, Elroy Ramantan, recently headed to the Borneo Culture and Creative District 2025, joining creatives from Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan, and Brunei. He took the stage as a panel speaker, sharing how grassroots projects and community-led initiatives are shaping Borneo’s creative ecosystem.
Representing Minority Agenda alongside Aqilah Ali of Kitani Kreatif, Elroy also showcased Brunei’s media, artworks, merch, and film—putting a spotlight on the strength of our creative community. The trip opened up new conversations around cross-border collaboration and what future projects across Borneo could look like in 2026 and beyond.
Leemin becomes the judge for IBTE Digital Marketing
This time, two years ago, Alimin Affendi was a student in Imamull Qhaeer’s Digital Marketing class, who stood on stage nervous about presenting in front of 100+ students at IBTE Business Campus.
Last Thursday, he stood in the same room again, but this time at the judges’ table.
From intern, to part-timer, to full-time at AICREATIVV, Alimin came back as an external assessor for the content creation presentations, now guiding the same juniors he once sat among.

We completed T4’s shoot
There’s a new drink on the way (still under wraps for now), and our media team got to bring it to life through some really fun videos. It felt fresh, creative, and a little different from our usual pace. We can’t wait for the world to see it.

Why is everyone sick???
We’ve been hearing a lot of coughing and sniffling lately— the tissue supply at the office is running out quick. Elroy started the wave, then Amal caught it, then Ziyah, and finally Judin. (Hopefully, it stops here)
The office feels a bit too quiet with everyone on MC. Get well soon, team — we miss the noise.
(Editor’s note: I FEEL BETTER NOW!!!)
Imamull becomes a panelist at YEAB Silver Jubilee
Nuur Batrisyia Ali and Imamull Qhaeer attended the YEAB Silver Jubilee celebration that was held at J hotel, Kiulap, 22nd November. Batrisyia had a lovely talk with Rasyidah, a successor to her Secretary Assistant role prior to joining AICREATIVV. Imamull on the other hand, went up on stage to speak on “Collaboration Over Competition” with Rahimin Abdul Amin from Brunei4AI, moderated by Mariah Zaharaa from Oddbox Media & Communications.

Stac Patisserie is live!
We’ve been at Stac Patisserie, Sunway Centre quite a bit these past few weeks — shooting content and tasting more pastries than we should admit. Post-production is done, and while the kitchen is rolling out dough, we’ll finally be rolling out the content real soon. Can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.
✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
18grams, Jerudong
We’ve been stopping by 18grams in Jerudong lately and their Matcha Cloud is so good. We’ve also tried their bakes. They have about seven or eight options and honestly all of them are solid. Hard to pick a favourite!

Trello
We have been using Trello a lot for project management lately and it has been a game changer. It keeps everything in one place, helps us stay aligned with clients, and makes it easier to track what is done and what is still in progress. It has made our workflow smoother and our projects easier to follow.
Very useful for comments that gets thrown around too. No we can keep it centralized!
