This week, we're adding more pages to our Spellbook. Here's what we'll be talking about:

🔦 Highlights

🪄 Spells

One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.

The things we don’t say shape the space we work in

Realignment

In the last two weeks of December, Amal suggested something simple.
She called it a team realignment activity.
Nothing fancy.
No slides.
No long speeches.
Just a space for everyone to pause and talk about how we want to grow in 2026.

At first, I did not expect much.
Maybe a few comments.
Maybe some small suggestions.
Just a routine check-in before the year ended.

But something special happened.

The room went quiet in the best way

The activity was cute.
Everyone faced the wall.
Everyone received one link.
Everyone typed anonymously.
No one knew who wrote what.

The rule was simple.
Pour your heart out.
Be honest.
Be objective.
No hostility.

In the silence, you could hear nothing but keyboards and keypads.
No one looked around.
No one laughed nervously.
For a moment, the entire room was still.

Then, when it was done, everyone clapped.
Someone joked, “Should we have a group hug?”
People laughed.
And the room felt lighter.
Much lighter.

It was one of those moments that showed me how powerful honesty can be when everyone feels safe enough to share it.

The truths that rose to the surface

When we read the responses, something became clear.
People wanted the same things.
Communication.
Unity.
Mutual care.

Not one person asked for less work.
Not one person asked for more rewards.
Everyone asked for better ways to connect.
Better ways to support each other.
Better ways to understand each other.

It matched everything we saw during the anonymous clarity session earlier.

People wanted:
Clearer communication
Fair workload
Team unity
Respectful culture
Better workflows

Not because things are bad.
But because everyone wants the team to feel like a team again.
(Why is everyone so clingy ah?)

It made me realise something important.
The things we do not say shape the room just as much as the things we do.

How silence builds distance

For a while, some of us held things in.
Not out of anger.
Not out of resentment.
But out of care.

We are scared to hurt each other.
We are scared to sound dramatic.
We are scared to make things awkward.
We are scared that dynamics might shift.

So we stay quiet.
We think we are protecting the team.
But silence can create small spaces between us.
Spaces we do not notice until they feel heavy.

“A team is a group of people who trust each other enough to be human together.”

Simon Sinek

Human together.
That is what the activity reminded me of.
We were not just sharing thoughts.
We were sharing trust.

Unity comes from seeing each other again

After the activity, something shifted.
People smiled more.
People chatted more.
Someone made a joke.
Someone else added to it.
It felt like the room had more air.

It reminded me of the rowing crew analogy.
We all have a paddle.
We all have a rhythm.
And when someone is rowing a little slower because they are tired, overwhelmed, or unsure, the boat changes direction.

But when everyone speaks up,
when everyone knows what the others are carrying,
when everyone shares the load,
the boat moves straight again.
Smooth.
Aligned.
Together.

Spellbook #33 — What I want to remember

  1. Honesty = Unity

  2. Silence can lead to pressure

  3. Communication (with no hostility) means care

  4. The team will feel closer when everyone is seen

  5. Unity needs constant practice

  6. We row better if we row with rhythm

  7. When the heart is safe, the room will feel lighter

First WCC of 2026!

There are multiple ins and outs for 2026, but our Wednesday Cardio Circuit (aka WCC) sessions after work is a confirmed ‘in’! Coached by Nuur Batrisyia Ali, this time she’s joined by Haziyah Azalmey, a recurring appearance and a couple of new faces, Raf Zaini and our newest intern, Syed Inayatt! During this session the focus was on our core, can you believe she made us do multiple planks?

Bootcamps are Back in Action

Our weekly bootcamps are back in action! The team has been split into four groups, facilitated by Imamull and Elroy, with sessions happening every Friday during working hours.

The goal? To sharpen how we communicate, collaborate, and present ideas — especially as we take on bigger projects and more clients.

The Return of Alfath

Our media intern, Alfath Sellahuddin is finally back from spending his holiday abroad. He’ll be working with us until the end of this month! Looking forward to see what projects he’ll be working on up until the end of his internship and what growth will come his way.

New Year, New Systems

During our year-end reflections, Imamull Qhaeer shared what to expect moving into 2026 — new leads, new systems, and a fresh approach to check-ins. Now in week three of the year, we’ve started putting these into practice, testing things out and seeing how it goes.

All of it ties back to our 2026 motto: Makasero (まかせろ)to entrust.

Raf Resumes her Academic Weapon Era

Raf Zaini, our Puan Penerbit, will be resuming her studies this semester, pursuing her Masters of Management as she enters her second and final semester. Let’s goooo, Raf!

Final push — all the best for the semester ahead!

The Gula Anau Story Premiere

We had the privilege of attending the private premiere of The Gula Anau Story, directed by Syafi Halim (New Wave Films) and Joshua Belayan, with Nuur Aqilah Ali as Marketing & Impact Partner representing Kitani Kreatif, as well as Assistant Director. The session also featured Nasri Tahir, Lead Researcher, who joined as a panelist.

The session was attended by Batrisyia and Limin during the first showing at One Cineplex while Raf and Judin went for their 2nd showing at UBD. It was an eye-opening experience for the team — we learned more about gula anau, including the fact that gula melaka is not the same as gula anau, and that there are very few experts left preserving this knowledge.

A big shoutout to everyone involved for putting together such a meaningful session. And of course — we love you, Qilly! We are so proud of you!

Recommendations

Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.

Moom — Happy Hormones

For Haziyah Azalmey, who’s experienced irregular cycles and missed periods in the past, this has been a welcome addition to her routine. She shares that her cycle feels more regulated, her cramps are more manageable than before, and she’s been sleeping better with improved mood throughout her menstrual cycle. Bonus points — it tastes good and blends easily into almost any drink, making it super easy to incorporate daily.

Moom - Happy Hormones in Lemon

Haziyah enjoys her Moom with berry infused water!

Serikandi Xpress — Rimba Point

The kebab has been there since Imamull’s childhood in KB, it’s the best ever. Now they have a stall in Rimba Point and JPFC, two of our favourite places to grab food for lunch, plus a super convenient location to our office, too!

Try his go-to order: Kebab daging, extra mayonnaise. Order 2 for a full meal. You’ll love it.
