🪄 Spells

One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.

A letter to everyone who chose us

Belonging Is Built in Small Moments

A few weeks ago, we had a potluck.
Nothing fancy.
Just food, gifts, and familiar faces coming back together.

Current team members.
Past interns.
People who once sat in these same rooms, worked on these same projects, and laughed in these same corners.

Everyone brought food.
A lot of food.
More than we could ever finish.

There was one rule for the night.
No work talk.

And somehow, that rule made everything feel lighter.

The room felt full in a different way

We ate together.
We laughed.
We exchanged gifts.

People went overboard with the gifts.
Thoughtful ones.
Funny ones.
Unexpected ones.
One even printed a face on the gift.

We sang.
We joked.
We stayed late.
No one looked at the time.

For a while, there were no roles.
No titles.
No departments.

Just people who had once chosen to be part of this journey.

That was when something quietly hit me.

The realisation that stayed with me

At one point, I stepped back and looked around the room.
And I realised we had grown bigger than I ever imagined.

Not just in numbers.
But in stories.
In shared moments.
In people who once walked alongside us and still felt welcome to return.

This journey was never built by one person.
It was built by every hand that helped.
Every idea that was shared.
Every late night.
Every small effort that no one remembers clearly anymore.

Current members.
Past members.
Interns who became professionals.
People who came, learned, gave, and moved on.

All of them shaped what AICREATIVV is today.

Belonging does not disappear when someone leaves.
It stays in the culture they helped build.

Why small moments matter

We were fed well, but we had more than that.
It reminded us why we do this.

Belonging is not built in meetings.
It is built when people feel safe enough to laugh.
When they feel seen without needing to perform.
When they feel welcome even after time has passed.

People don’t remember what you do. They remember how you make them feel.

Seth Godin

That night reminded me of how the team wants people to feel.
Seen.
Welcome.
Part of something, even years later.

We build together.
We grow together.
And we carry each other forward, even when paths change.

Spellbook #34 — What I want to remember

  1. Belonging grows outside of work, too.
Sometimes the most important moments happen after working hours, or when work steps aside.

  2. Food brings people back to themselves
Sharing a meal lowers walls faster than any agenda every could.

  3. Culture is shaped by who feels welcome
Not just those who are here now, but also those who were here before.

  4. Potlucks, gatherings can create a bigger meaning
Bigger than any presentation could ever do.

  5. Growth is measured by people, not numbers
If people return with the same warmth, we must be doing something right.

  6. The journey is always shared
Nothing we have ever built happened alone.
It happened because everyone who chose to walk with us, even for a short while.

That night reminded me that we are not only doing and building work.
We are building a place where people remember.
And that matters more than we often realise.

MEGA PANTRY STOCK UP

We’re Cooking Something…

This year, the media team is focusing on creating more internal content — shining a light on the people behind the work and the moments that shape us beyond our projects.

We’re starting the year with our first internal project, directed by Aaqilull Qhaeer and Alimin Affendi. It’s a reflective piece that looks back at both the highs and lows, celebrating small wins, big milestones, and the reminder that we’re human at the end of the day.

Business Bootcamp: A Shift in Perspective

At our recent business bootcamp, we kicked things off by revisiting limiting beliefs — but with a twist. Instead of unpacking our own, we challenged ourselves to examine the beliefs we place on others, stepping into their perspectives and questioning where those assumptions come from.

Our key takeaway? “If something is true, then it reasons that the opposite cannot be true.” By interrogating statements like “You’ll only be successful if…”, we learnt to ask: Who defines this? What qualifies it as truth? By the end of this session, we learnt that empathy, context, and critical thinking are essential in how we understand people and how we work with them.

Wednesday was NOT for the Weak

WCC group photo!

This week’s WCC (Wednesday Cardio Circuit) saw our biggest turnout yet — a full house led by coach Nuur Batrisyia Ali! Instead of targeting one muscle group, each circuit focused on a different part of the body, giving us a full-body workout from start to finish.

It was tough (okay, very painful), and some of us are still sore — but all #ForHealth. Special shoutout to familiar faces making their return (Hafiz, Imamull, Iman, Raf), Haziyah for staying consistent, Judin for his first-ever WCC, and Amal for cheerleading morale the whole way through.

This was how it went down:

All the Best, Alfath!

And just like that, Alfath Sellahuddin’s internship has just ended after 3 short months, we wish him the best and look forward to where his journey will take him next. Perhaps, that said journey won’t be too far from where we are?

Don’t cry, Alfath!

Thai Movie Nights

For someone who claims not to watch movies, Elroy Ramantan somehow always has the best recommendations. Every Thursday, he hosts Thai Movie Nights, where the team gathers in the Cozy Room (after working hours, of course) to unwind over one of his picks. Funnily enough, we sometimes find ourselves looking forward to our former intern Zaireena Osman’s commentary just as much as the movie itself.

We ❤️ bonding.

Ready for the movie night!

Uh oh… Not Again….

The team seems to be under the weather… again.

What started with patient zero Amal Osmera quickly made its way to Iman Shamsuddin, Haziyah Azalmey, Stephanie Yong, and now, Nuur Batrisyia Ali. There are also unconfirmed reports that Raf Zaini may have caught the bug too.

At this point, we can’t help but wonder: is the flu selectively contagious?

get well soon Amal!

Recommendations

Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.

Mamita’s @ Bamboo Grove, Jerudong

We had a team lunch at Mamita’s recently, thanks to Elroy Ramantan’s recommendation. Aside from the delicious Filipino cuisine, we also loved the ambiance and service, we even had the pleasure of meeting The Mamita, an absolute sweetheart. We’ll definitely come back again!

Nexfit Active

Our WCC Coach, Nuur Batrisyia Ali wants to recommend this Filipino-founded, Brunei-based active wear brand, Nexfit Active. She thinks their apparel is cute and comfy, perfect for becoming a fitness it girl!
