🔦 Highlights
🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
I Leave It To You
When trust changed how work moved
For a while, projects slowed down in a strange way.
Everyone was working.
Things were moving.
Yet somehow, deliveries felt heavier than they should.
We traced it back to one thing.
There was simply too much to check.
Every handover added another pause.
Internal back and forth stretched longer than expected.
Nothing was wrong.
But nothing was landing either.
Progress started waiting.
When checking took over
We were careful.
We wanted to get things right.
But careful slowly turned into constant.
And constant checking began to shape how work moved.
People waited for replies.
Work sat between messages.
Momentum leaked quietly.
It wasn’t obvious at first.
But over time, it showed.
We were hovering over deadlines,
when we should have completed weeks before.
Leaning in Makasero
This year, we leaned into our 2026 motto.
Makasero.
“I leave it to you.”
In practice, this meant letting people handle things they once avoided.
External communication included.
It felt uncomfortable at first.
It also means to let go with trust and belief.
And to also take in with accountability and responsibility.
There were mistakes.
That part was expected.
But guess what?
The pleasant surprise
Questions became fewer.
Drafts became cleaner.
Finals showed up faster.
Those who used to check relaxed.
Those who used to wait stepped up.
Ideas started flowing more freely.
Some were stronger than what we were used to seeing.
People began spotting gaps in workflows on their own.
They brought solutions with them.
What started as fear slowly turned into confidence.
Trust changed what productivity was for us
Trust shifted the weight of work.
When something is passed with belief,
there is a quiet pressure that comes with it.
Not the stressful kind.
The kind that sharpens attention.
People owned their decisions more fully.
Accountability felt shared, not enforced.
Makasero became a word we used often.
And the more we used it, the more it shaped how we worked.
Making trust safe
Trust did not exist on its own.
We clarified roles.
We aligned on standards.
We talked through what happens when things go wrong.
Problems are addressed directly.
People are not pointed at.
Knowing there is a safety net makes it easier to move forward.
What we saw as a team
Work felt lighter.
Smoother, really.
The scope felt clearer.
Responsibilities are more distinct.
We moved faster with fewer interruptions.
Productivity looked less like checking and more like flow.
We probably should have done this earlier.
But we’re glad we’re learning it now.
What I want to remember: Spellbook #37
1. Too much checking slows movement
Care needs boundaries to stay helpful.
2. Trust changes behaviour
People rise when belief is given early. Empowered too, perhaps.
3. Cleaner drafts signal clearer ownership
Confidence shows up in the work.
4. Mistakes teach faster than hovering
Growth needs room.
5. Standards make trust possible
Clarity protects belief.
6. Productivity improves when flow replaces fear
Makasero lets work move.

UK Study Fair
We paid a visit to Empire Hotel’s Indera Samudra Grand Hall for the recent UK Study Fair, our media team were hard at work taking the event coverage while the business team members, as well as our copywriting intern, Hariisah Halwa came by to visit. As for Hariisah, she took the time to browse and visit some booths to figure out her potential course of studies (Accompanied by Haziyah and Batrisyia, of course— who used to frequent study fairs as students too)

Sunday Fitness Day
We wrapped up the week with some fitness activities #ForHealth.
Haziyah and Bacica kicked off their morning with a Functional Fitness class at Elite Alpha Fitness, led by Coach Wafiy and Coach Nanee (and for Haziyah, it was her first workout outside of WCC!)
Meanwhile, a big portion of the team hit the courts for a badminton session organised by Judin, ending with a final match that, according to Hafiz, felt like watching professionals — Putra & Imamull vs Judin & Hisham had everyone reacting with loud oohs and aahhs, with a final score of 1:1. Judin said this session felt like a warm-up and he looks forward to the next badminton session.

UBD Open Day
We had the opportunity to participate in this year’s UBD Open Day, where we showcased our portfolios and connected with hopeful creatives, prospective interns, and job seekers. It was also a chance to reflect on our journey — from two laptops and a screen at the UBD Start-Up Centre to a full-fledged design agency of 17 within just three years.
Thank you to Ms Q, Ms Z, and Dr W for the invitation, and a special shout-out to Hidayah, the ever cheerful intern from IEED!

✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
Corak Flora — Kuih Talam
While we were at UBD for Open Day, we discovered that the Market Street pop-up was happening nearby — so of course, we had to check it out. We ran into our friend Alyssa, the baker behind Corak Flora, who was serving traditional kuih talam. Naturally, we tried the kuih seri muka and kuih kusoi, and if you’re wondering… yes, they were perfectly not too sweet.

Secret Clean Propolis Mouthwash
It all started when Hariisah and Batrisyia went around asking for chewing gum to fix their garlic breath — only to discover that inside Haziyah’s seemingly endless Mary Poppins–style bag were two sachets of mouthwash, ready for the rescue. Coincidentally, it was a product she already uses (and got for free), and safe to say, Hariisah and Bacica walked away with fresher breaths and a much-needed refresh.
