This week, we're adding more pages to our Spellbook. Here's what we'll be talking about:
🔦 Highlights
🪄 Spells
One big idea we’ve learned each week, shaped into words you can carry forward.
3 habits that destroys team morale
A destructive pattern
For a while, everything and everyone looked fine.
Projects were moving. Deadlines were met. The team was busy.
From the outside, nothing seemed off.
But inside the work, something feels off. You could feel it in the air. Through interactions, through conversations, lunch plans.
Things took a little longer than expected.
Energy dropped. Morale dropped.
Projects that should have felt smooth… didn’t.
We brushed it off at first.
“Just a busy week.”
“Normal.”
“It’ll be better next week.”
But it kept happening.
It’s nothing obvious, but it’s just enough to make you go “huh?”.
And that’s when we realised, it was something else.
A realisation
After a few weeks, we noticed the pattern.
It wasn’t workload.
It wasn’t the clients.
It wasn’t us either.
It was small habits.
Small habits that stacked up into bigger problems that bled into our environment.
The kind that doesn’t look like problems, until it happens repeatedly.
Habit 1 — Starting too fast
There are projects that excite us.
As creatives, this is our guilty pleasure. The moment something feels fresh, we want to jump straight into it.
And one time, we did exactly that.
We skipped a step we’ve always believed in.
Stylescapes.
That loose direction. That compass for the design.
We went straight into the deliverables.
At first, it felt fast.
Then the revisions started.
And they didn’t stop.
Round after round, the work kept changing. Directions kept shifting. What felt exciting at the start slowly lost its spark.
We didn’t slow down.
We just restarted the work, over and over again.
This was something we touched on before in Spellbook 44. When we skip clarity, we pay for it later.
Habit 2 — Staying busy instead of focused
There’s a difference between being in deep work and appearing busy.
We’ve had days where long task lists felt like progress.
Clearing items.
Moving fast.
Always doing something.
It feels good.
But when we looked closer, something was off.
The work felt rushed.
Ideas didn’t go as far.
Some tasks were completed, but not fully thought through.
It reminded us of what we explored in Spellbook 44 again.
Switching too much doesn’t only slow us down. It breaks our thinking.
So we made a small change.
We set limits.
Each person has a cap. Once it’s reached, we either pause, shift, or pass it on.
Less tasks.
Better attention.
And the difference showed.
Habit 3 — Waiting too long to say something
This one is quieter.
It doesn’t show up in deliverables.
It shows up in people.
There are moments at work where pressure builds. Words slip out differently. Tone changes. It rubs people differently.
We’re professionals.
But we’re also human.
And sometimes, instead of addressing it early, we let it sit.
We tell ourselves it’s fine.
We move on.
But it doesn’t disappear.
It becomes a small rift.
And that rift doesn’t stay small.
You can feel it in the room. In conversations. In the way people collaborate.
We’ve spoken about this before in Spellbook 30 and 32.
Communication does not only exist in work. It’s can also be about clearing what sits beneath it.
So we started doing it more intentionally.
One-to-ones.
Post mortems.
Weekly check-ins.
The faster something comes up, the faster it gets resolved.
Even if it feels uncomfortable.
What we want to change
None of these were big problems.
They were small habits.
Starting too fast.
Staying busy.
Staying quiet.
We didn’t remove them overnight.
We just started noticing them.
And correcting them earlier.
A quiet reminder
Work rarely slows down because of one big mistake.
It slows down because of small things we repeat daily.
And sometimes, growth is just learning to catch them sooner.

The Return of Two Familiar Faces
We’re happy to welcome back two familiar faces — our former KIGS interns, Alfath Sellahuddin and Majidah Khirul, now returning as full-time team members. Majidah joins us as a Creative Designer, while Alfath steps in as a Media Executive.
Having watched their journey from interns to graduates, we’re excited to see how they continue to grow and evolve in this next chapter with us.

Celebrating Excellence at SMPAPHRSB
Imamull and Amal were invited as special guests to SMPAPHRSB, Lumut’s ‘O’ Level Students’ Excellence Awards. Many of the awardees were the same students who visited our office last July, making it especially meaningful to witness how far they’ve come.
It’s an honour to be part of their journey, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

BANGCHELLA Weekend 2
Thanks to the time difference, we managed to tune in to headliners BIGBANG’s set — even if it meant cutting our lunch break short. Haziyah, Amal, Dhiyau, Hafiz (remotely), and Hisham (in spirit) were fully locked in, cheering and singing along like we were right there in the Coachella desert.
One hour flew by just like that, and now… we’re just hoping we’ll get to experience it in person next time.

Amal, Haziyah and Dhiyau BANGCHELLAA!

Haziyah’s POV
4 Days, 4 Shoots, 0 Chill
This week, the media has been productive for four consecutive days. On Monday, Hisham and Aiman covered a BFI event at MOFE. Tuesday saw Raf, Aiman, Limin and Yasmin heading to First Emporium branches for a shoot. On Wednesday and Thursday, the team worked on an exciting T4 shoot! On top of that, Yasmin and Hariisah also had morning shoot with KUS. What a busy week for media team (Don’t forget to get some rest, team!).

AICARPENTERR Era
With the team growing, so is our need for space (and furniture). Elroy and Imamull made a trip to their go-to furniture store to pick up new tables and chairs for the newcomers — and took on the challenge of assembling them themselves. Rumour has it Alfath’s new chair is now the most comfortable seat in the office… though we’re not sure how long it’ll stay his.

✨ Recommendations
Things we’re loving lately, because inspiration hides where you least expect them.
SAFF by Saff & Co
Gifted by Raf, this has quickly become Judin’s go-to signature scent for everyday wear. He’s a fan of its fresh, oceany profile — clean, easygoing, and never overwhelming.
The sleek bottle design is a bonus, but what really makes it stand out is its softer projection, making it perfect for daily use, especially in an open office setting.

The Virts (Virtuoso Deck)
Recommended by Dhiyau, our resident card deck collector — the Virtuoso Deck is a standout for anyone who appreciates thoughtful, cohesive design.
Known within the card collector community for its seasonal releases, each deck feels like a curated piece of art. Dhiyau especially loves how the designs come together when laid out, reminding him of the mosaic-style visuals from Art Attack.
If you’re into collecting cards or simply enjoy well-crafted design, this one’s definitely worth checking out.
